Ms. Linda P.
Curriculum Advisor
A passionate educator and physical activity enthusiast, Linda has been guiding adults and children into healthy lifestyles for over 10 years. Linda obtained a B.S. in exercise and sports science from East Carolina University, a Master's in exercise and sports science from the University of Florida, and fulfilled Health and Physical Education teaching requirements for K-12 at George Mason University.
In 1999, Linda began her formal fitness career as the manager of a worksite fitness facility for the Department of Justice in Washington, DC. While working as Fitness Director for various health clubs in the DC area, Linda was responsible for new member orientations, personal training programs for children and adults, health fairs and teaching a variety of aerobics and fitness classes.
She has shared her knowledge of health and fitness education by publishing articles in Strategies and presenting to colleagues at professional conferences.
Ms. Jen
Northern Virginia Manager
Hi, my name is Ms. Jen and I am the Northern Virginia Supervisor for the Fit Kids program. I am a certified Fit Kids instructor and joined the Fit Kids team in 2001. I have been working full time since I graduated from George Mason University in May 2005. I graduated with a bachelor's degree in psychology. I have always enjoyed working with children. In my spare time, I love to play sports, listen to music, and watch movies and hangout with friends. I live in Bristow with my husband and our two lab puppies.
Ms. Annette
I have been teaching with Fit Kids since 1997. I received my bachelor of arts in communications from the University of Texas at Arlington. I am an AFAA certified group fitness instructor, a personal trainer, and an AEA certified aquatic fitness instructor. I have taken many workshops with Mindy Mylrea, an international presenter and a leader in children's fitness.
I am a Registered Yoga Teacher at the 200-hour level with Yoga Alliance. In 2004, I graduated from the Health Advantage Yoga Center Teacher Training program with Doug Keller and Susan Van Nuys. I completed Level 1 of the Radiant Child Yoga Program with Shakta Kaur Khalsa in 2002 and Yoga Fit Kids with Stephanie Adams in 2003. I have been teaching adult yoga since 2001 and children's yoga since 2005. I look forward to teaching your child in my next class!
Mr. Brian
Hi, my name is Brian. I am a certified Fit Kids instructor and joined the Fit Kids team in 2003. I am currently a full time student at George Mason University. I am in the process of completing my bachelor of science degree in physical education. I have worked as a personal trainer for five years and a substitute teacher for three years. I have taught and enjoy rock climbing, hiking, swimming, kayaking, trail running, weight lifting, and playing soccer. This position has given me a chance to teach children proper techniques in exercise, stretching and movement. This will help kids understand the importance of living a healthy lifestyle. The best part about this position is it is so much fun!
Mr. Curt
Hi, my name is Mr. Curt. I am a certified Fit Kids instructor and I joined the Fit Kids team in spring 2008. I graduated from Radford University in 2008 with a Bachelor's degree in Exercise, Sport, & Health Education. I grew up in Alexandria, where I still currently live. I have worked with kids since high school. I am currently coaching a 16-18 yr old basketball team and have previously coached basketball and baseball for various ages. I worked as a sports counselor and at the Radford Recreation Center during college. I enjoy playing and watching all sports. I feel extremely lucky to have found a great program such as Fit Kids™, and to be given an opportunity to help your child grow physically and mentally through exercise, sports and movement.
Mr. Jon
Hi, my name is Jon. I am a certified Fit Kids instructor and joined the Fit Kids team in 2001. I have a bachelor of science degree in exercise science from George Mason University. I have always lived in the Northern Virginia area. For five years, I have been an instructor for classes and individuals in sports and exercise. I have been working with children for 10 years through a variety of different camps. My sports background includes hockey, football, and lacrosse. I played lacrosse for four years, football for ten years, and hockey for ten years, including junior and collegiate levels. I look forward to working with you and your child.
Ms. Katie
I have been working with Fit Kids since the fall of 2006. I graduated from George Mason University with a bachelor's degree in exercise science. I have always loved sports and played basketball and volleyball throughout high school. I continued to play volleyball in college and was part of the GMU Division I team for three years. Although volleyball is my favorite sport to play, I really enjoy coaching all different types of sports. In my free time I enjoy the outdoors, watching movies, and spending time with my family and friends. Hopefully, I will get a chance to meet you and your child in one of my classes!
Ms. Linda T.
My name is Linda. I am a certified Fit Kids instructor and joined the Fit Kids team in 2000. I have a B.A. degree in economics from California State University. I have been involved with kids' education and programs since my son was little. I began with volunteer programs with summer camps and Sunday school. As my son got older, I found myself volunteering as Cub Scout leader and as a tutor for kids in math and reading. My fitness career started as a certified aerobic instructor for kickboxing and aqua classes. Seven years ago, I started working with Fit Kids teaching tumbling, soccer, and exercise classes for preschoolers. I really enjoy working with children and would love to have yours in my class!
Ms. Olivia
Hi! My name is Ms. Olivia and I became a certified Fit Kids instructor in 2009. I am a licensed Elementary School Teacher. I'm originally from England and came to America in 1991 on an athletic (diving) scholarship, where I competed in the NCAA’s for all four years representing The University of Houston. I also represented Great Britain and competed in the European and World Diving Championships. I have coached a variety of sports, including diving, and I love seeing how children grow and learn through physical activity. I have a love of sports and am passionate about teaching children in a fun and positive environment. I have a husband and two small children and live in Fauquier County. In my spare time I enjoy hiking with my two dogs, skiing, swimming and golf. I look forward to sharing my enthusiasm for movement and exercise with your child!
Ms. Shelley
Hi, I am Ms. Shelley and I started with Fit Kids in 2008. I am a certified children’s fitness instructor and nutritionist. I personally have found that diet and exercise are a lifelong approach to a healthy and happy lifestyle. Fit Kids is the perfect outlet for me to share that knowledge and to encourage children and their families to live healthier, more active lives. I have been active in sports my entire life and especially love baseball, softball, and soccer. In my spare time I enjoy working out, cooking, and baking bread. I live in Fauquier County, Virginia with my husband, two children, and chocolate lab.
Miss Nancy
Nancy is a certified Fit Kids instructor and joined the Fit Kids team in 2007. Nancy loves teaching young children the importance of keeping active and having fun! She was a three sport athlete in high school and continued to play both soccer and basketball at the collegiate level. She played center midfielder for the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and was on the 1st National Champion team -- she garnered All-American honors while she played. She lives in Loudoun County with her husband, Tom and their beloved mutt Elvis who adopted them two years ago :)
Mr. Chris
Hi, my name is Chris. I am a certified Fit Kids instructor and joined the Fit Kids team in 2006. I have a bachelor degree in science and a health endorsement in physical education K-12 from George Mason University. I have a Masters degree in education from GMU as well. I've been teaching Physical Education for 14 years with most of my experience in the elementary schools. I worked for five years as a trainer for a girl’s select soccer team. I've been coaching youth soccer for 10 years now and still enjoy playing adult league soccer. My background in sports include soccer, football, racquet ball, tennis, mountain biking/road cycling and baseball. I also enjoy going to the gym at least 4 days a week. I look forward to having the opportunity to work with your children real soon.
Mr. Jarred
I've been working with Fit Kids for the past three years. I have a
Bachelors degree in Recreation and Parks Management and a Masters degree in Special education. I have been working with kids since high school and currently teach Special Education in Loudoun County. I played football and ran track at Frostburg State University as well as playing soccer and swimming in high school. I enjoy working with children and look forward to meeting you.
